Miss Kacie Jess


Kacie joined GFT in February 2019 after graduating with a BSc Hons in Animal Biology from the University of Stirling. She worked with GFT each summer between 2019 - 2024, and for the rest of the year travelled the world including Australia, New Zealand, south east Asia and Japan.

Kacie took up a permanent post at GFT in early 2025 as Project Manager (Nature Restoration).  She plays a key role in delivering the practical works in the GFT 'Flowing Forward - Restoring Galloway's Rivers' Programme.  She is particularly experienced in electrofishing surveys, managing databases, invertebrate analysis and project management.

She is a local girl having grown up in Newton Stewart. She enjoys scuba diving, gaming and being outdoors.

Temperature loggers downloaded this month

GFT are currently in the process of downloading data from temperature loggers which are in 20 sites across the river Bladnoch. The data gets downloaded twice a year; once in April and once in October.

The New Sparling Model Has Arrived!

GFT commissioned a Bolton based taxidermist, Phillip Leggett to create a realistic sparling model. This model accurately represents three adult sparling, which grow up to 30cm and are still present in the River Cree.
